Everyday I'm shufflin......

Hey Everybody!!!! Aushlynn is coming off another amazing week.  I am so glad to hear it.  It makes my heart happy to know that she is doing well and thriving out in Peru.

Hey Guys!

Wow this week was a week of miracles! We are definitely being blessed in this area with people that are absolutely ready to hear the gospel! We have almost had a baptism every week this transfer! That’s the goal in the mission is to be baptizing every week! We were able to have the baptisms of Jhoner on Sunday! It was super cute! He had his older brother that is a returned missionary baptize him! Yanno... I had to wait about 7 months to see the fruits of my labors but wow it was worth the wait. We have another baptism this week on Saturday for a girl named Lesli. She is 13 years old. Her dad wouldn’t let her be baptized but all the rest of her family is member. We finally were able to get the permission of him to have her be baptized. I thought we were never going to be able to baptize her but god works in mysterious ways.

So this week we were able to find 3 new people to teach. Two of them are brother and sister Juliana and Marck. Juilana is 26 and Marck is 18. They have never been baptized and have just been living as Christians. They have never assisted to a church before! They are awesome and really willing to listen and complete every goal we give them! They are also reading the book of mormon a lot. They have a baptism date for the 18th. I am super excited to see their progress. Also we have been teaching a girl named Milagros. I am at a loss with her. We have taught her everything we have to teach and she has come to church every week but still needs more... like there is no more!! She is so prepared and I am super sad that she is holding off.

This week we had a ward conference. We had activities in the church every night and our investigators were able to attend a lot of them which we were super excited about. We had our very first ward council in the branch here... it went okay. We still need a lot of work in our branch. I told one of the brothers here that he was going to be the next Presidente of the rama and the next day he was called as the new Presidente! Hahaha I seriously have a gift for picking leaders of the church. Hey dad your going to be the next xxxx!! :) ( I had to take this part of the letter out because Kendall did not want any predictions in writing!)

For pday we had the finals of the piura vida cup! No we didn’t win... yes elder Wilson is mad at us... hahaha. After we ate at Chili’s with other missionaries! It was really fun to get to see the whole mission!!

Well that’s pretty much my week this week!

Hermana brown

Weekly planning session. Yeah...that's my girl!
Sometimes you fall asleep on the bus back to Paita and the awesome missionaries that you are with take pictures of you! Haha.....she must have been tired. Wonder if they tried to throw any paper wads in her mouth....her brothers sure would have!
Yep this is my girl.....she is a huge fan of little kids and dogs!
The Baptism of Jhoner
The whole crew at the baptism.  The Elders has a baptism too!  This area is ripe and ready to harvest!
Aush and a group of missionaries at the Puira Vida Cup.
Huh....looks like she is a fan of the peace sign. (notice the shorts of Mitch Barnes....thanks again Mitch! haha)
Hermana Brown picked up a bag of Mini Kraps this week.  I hope they were better than they sound!  Haha......oh Peru someone needs to help you come up with better names for your snacks!

If it so be that you should labor all your days and bring but one soul unto me...

And if it so be that you should labor......all your days........and bring but one soul unto me.........how great shall be your joy with him, in the kingdom of our Father! Aushlynn is coming off her best week in the mission yet!  She had her first baptism! She participated in a service project translating for a group from Park City Utah that brought a eyeglass clinic and she participated in the Piura Vida Cup.  All good times!

Hey guys!

This week was fantastic! We have been working super hard the last 3 weeks here in Paita! Yes the baptism with Hermana Katy was so awesome! She was really nervous but she did awesome! She gave her testimony after and it was super spiritual. I also got to sing a solo I like to look for rainbows for her! She is thinking about serving a mission! She is a super strong convert! We have another baptism this Saturday! His name is Jhoner! He is 13 years old! Hermana Ramos said that he has been hesitant to accept a date for baptism and once I got here he gained a lot of confidence from our teaching and accepted when I asked! It was awesome! The work here in Paita progressing a lot. We have baptism dates for like the next 3 weeks. We are working hard to have a white out. A white out is where each of the companionships in our zone have a baptism on the same day. It will take place on my 9th of July!

We were able to teach a lot of people this week. We have found 3 new people to teach. One of them came to church with us with her two kids. She is super awesome! Also we found a lady to teach that owns a bakery. I’m going to get so fat here.... everyone just gives us fresh bread everywhere we go... it’s a problem. We are continuing to teach the people we had before but not a lot of progression. We are teaching a girl named Cynthia and her two kids that could be baptized but we weren’t able to get in contact with them this week :( Hoping to see her a lot next week!

This week I had the opportunity to go translate for an organization from Utah! They were here to give away glasses to people who couldn’t see. They are mostly from park city. They didn’t speak Spanish so we translated for them! It was a really cool experience! People who could barely see had sight now and all the little kids that had hard time seeing were so grateful!

For Fathers Day we had dinner with our branch president’s family. They served us tiger blood soup. It’s supposedly tigers blood with lots of lemon and fish. Let’s just say I wasn’t a fan. Ha Ha.

So we had the Piura Vida Soccer cup today! It was awesome to see most of the people from the mission! I got to see all of my old companions. Our zone lost one game and won one game and so we are still in the running! We play again next Monday! I got to see Elder Hill! It was good to see him ha ha! He is still same old Elder Hill. He is just skinnier now like Evan!

We have interviews with Presidente tomorrow! I am super excited! I always love having interviews with Presidente! It’s like I am getting advice from dad! Also he always gives really good advice and new ideas we can try to better our work!

Well that’s pretty much all from this week! I have pictures coming I promise!!!

Puppies......

Well another week has come and gone.  They are flying by! Today we hit day 227 ...not that I am counting or anything.  Fun fact....I did the math.....with the exception of one week.....I have spent the last 202 Mondays waiting for an email from one of my missionaries.....only 46 more Mondays to go!!!  Haha....Oye....I think I might have issues.
Anyway......it was good to hear from our favorite missionary.  Good things are happening for her, I will let you hear it from her!

 Hola Padres!!

Well I feel like a ton of things happened this week but I am having a mind blank! Hopefully I will be able to write everything that happened!

First things first! WE HAVE A BAPTISM ON SATURDAY!!!! WOOOO. She passed her baptism interview on Saturday and is all ready to go. Honestly she is an investigator of gold. She was so prepared to hear our words and change her whole life! She doesn’t have the support of her family which is sad but she wants to serve a mission! She is 18 and her name is Katrina! We are super excited for her! Also we have 20 people with baptism dates! We have a few for the 25th so we are hoping they keep progressing!!

This week I had the most lessons I have ever had in one week! We literally have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off. We have had lessons like every 30 minutes! By the end of the day I was like let’s get this planning session and the area book done so I can lay dead in my bed. It honestly felt like I closed my eyes for 4 minutes and then the phone alarm would go off. I am so exhausted! The only time we couldn’t teach someone is when Peru is playing soccer  in the Copa America cup. No one will give you the time of day or answer their door because they are all watching haha.

So on the 4th of July we are having the Piura Vida cup! It’s a soccer tournament for all the zones! We are making jerseys and everything :) Now our zone leaders are making us practice at 6 every morning haha! If I didn't already not get enough sleep! This will take place the last 2 p- days of the transfer!

Today we went to a beach called the gramma! Wow I missed the beach! It was a super cool beach with tons of rocks you could climb on! We went with our district and some other people from another district!  Ha ha one Elder went super far out on the rocks and I told him don’t go out there you are going to get soaked... yeah elders don’t like to be told what to do by the sisters... so I just watched him walk out on the rocks and like 10 seconds later BOOM!!! He got hit and went down! He ripped up his legs pretty bad.. lost his 110 dollar ray bans and his phone is broken. Hahaha... this is a lesson for all you elders out there.... listen to the sisters.

Well I hope all is well with you guys! I am loving every minute I have in Peru! It’s just flying by and I am trying to soak up every minute of it!

Hermana Brown
Since she can't hold babies on her mission....she settles for the next best thing....PUPPIES! She has never met a dog that she hasn't tried to be friends with.
Hermana Brown and Hermana Rasmussen in Catacaous.
Her zone in Paita. She is the only gringa.
She finally mad it back to the beach.  Looks like she is suffering with the scenery.

We will survive...

Hey Peeps....time for the weekly update. I have some super bad news....no pictures this week......What??? GASP!! I know how you feel....the pictures are the highlight of my week too....but somebody left her camera at her apartment so she could not upload any......we will get thru this....only 6 more days until next p-day.....if we just take deep breaths we should be able to make it.
Also, somebody hit the 8th month mark.....WOOT WOOT...not the end....just the beginning....but since its already the 7th we are getting pretty close to 9 months. I mean we could just round there if we want.....Aushlynnn was and her dad had to totally burst her bubble this week.....it was a mean thing to do Kendall! Haha!
Aush told me in her new area that it actually gets cold in the night time.  She has to use her sweaters in the evenings. She said its a miracle and that she hasn't felt cold in along time.  I think that she must be forgetting her daily showers in the cold water! Haha.
Here is her letter for the week!
Hola Parents!
Well I survived another week out here you know preaching and all. Ha ha so I have mixed feelings about this area. The work here is great and the members are super awesome! We had 17 lessons with members this week! We are super excited that we have 16 people with baptismal dates! I am hoping to see baptisms on the 18th! The one on the 18th is a man named Piero. He just needs to come to church one more time and he is all set. The people here in Paita are so ready for our message! Also we are so close to having a stake out here in Paita! Right now it’s just 4 or 5 branches and we are hoping to get it to a stake!! We have about 150 people that come to church each week. We are hoping to increase that number!
Hermana Ramos is such a sweetheart! She is awesome! She is also a really good missionary and I have already learned a ton of things from her! We also work really good together and are pretty efficient! She is from Lima! She has had 3 months in the mission and this is her 3rd transfer here in Paita! She will probably be leaving next transfer so I have to enjoy and live up this time we have together!! :)
So the area is not even close to the beach... I am in an area called Paita Alta.. :( I haven’t even seen the beach once since I have been here. My area is pure dirt. We have no roads. It’s actually kind of depressing. It isn’t very big either! The people are super friendly though and willing to listen to our message! Also, I’m probably going to gain some weight in this area because everyone gives us fresh baked bread every day!
This week we had to look for a new apartment! Ugh... We searched all week long and seriously had no luck.. I have been literally showering with a bucket for 7 days now... and this morning when I took a shower the water was so cold it gave me a brain freeze :) We were pretty discouraged by the end of the week but on Sunday God blessed us with the apartments of all apartments in Paita!! It’s seriously huge and it has a shower!! **TIM TEBOWS** We also have a balcony! We moved all our stuff this morning! YAY!!
I haven’t been feeling well this past week. I think that our Pensionista isn’t preparing food correctly. We may need to find a new one. My companion doesn’t really like rice anyway ha ha.
Today for p-day went to THE BEACH..... oh wait... we actually traveled in bus to Cactacous! Hahahahaha I hate buses so much. I bought a cute hat and a hammock that I am going to hang on our balcony :) We also ran into Presidente and his wife! He invited us to lunch! HE IS THE BEST! Also I ran into my friend from high school Elder White!
So yeah that’s it for this week! Thanks for all your prayers!
